Each book is over the 500 page mark but I can promise they do not feel like it at all. Recently adapted into a Sky One series, with season 2 out soon(ish) this book series is excellent. Set in the modern world with Vampires, Witches and Daemons, a power is rising and the wrong people are looking to harness it. This is an incredibly written, structured and thought through book, with characters you can’t help but love and sass throughout the whole lot. Worth a read. (Psst, there’s a read-along happening currently over on DaemonsDomain.)
This is the millionth time you have seen this book on my Top 5s but it fits so many categories! Yes, the tome I am currently reading hitting in at 848 pages is a beast and features dragons, LGBT and a humongous world to explore. This is the last time this comes up on a Top 5… I think. Maybe not.
These books maybe beastly but the beauty within is worth the size, these books are packed with masses of adventure, love, power, magic, enlightenment. The writing is beautifully lyrical and sings it’s own song about this world Laini creates. It’s just beautiful.
With 1006 pages, this book has been on my TBR tentatively, but with so many recommendations from several people, but especially my wife (best friend since school), I know I’m gonna love it once I do pick it up. Goodreads synopsis; English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory. Can’t go wrong with that really.
* Reader Confession Time * You can get mad at me if you like, but know the above is on my TBR for this year. I may have never finished the Harry Potter series. But this is the year I rectify that! I have spent the last few months, listening to the Harry Potters on Audible, but now I have got to read the last 2 as I have yet to do so, ever, in my whole life. I’m sorry, but the death in 5 actually broke me as a 16 YO. #StillSad
I am not tagging anyone specific today as I am so late for this blog post! If you are interested though, please join us! 🤓
