Just like all my blogs this year, I’m a little late to the party but I am still freaking out! Haha… ARGHHHH!
Getting back to this blog has been hard but luckily booktube whet my appetite! But I found the actual inspiration for this on A Whisper Of Ink blog, check their answers out here.
1. Best Book Of 2019 So Far
I have been so lucky this year having lots of 5 star reads, so instead of writing out a silly long list, I have based my answer on the books that took me by surprise and have by far been my best of 2019.
King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo – If I could live in any literary world it would be Ravka! And revisiting it with characters from previous books King Of Scars felt like returning home! But that ending… not cool, Bardugo. Not cool.
Vicious by V.E. Schwab – The first Victoria Schwab I have ever picked up but not the first bought! This was super hyped for me thanks to booktube, twitter and instagram, with the release of Vengeful this was all over my social media! I had to pick it up and I fell in, so easily and effortlessly it didn’t feel like reading, it felt like the book was reading to me! And every V. E. Schwab that I pick up from now on, I believe, will feel the same.
Dance Of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson – Honestly, this did not seem like something I would pick up and the cover always left me cold, but as in 12 Books Of Christmas 2018 my dear, Narah Quinn gave me this for the challenge ‘A Book that was released in 2018′ and I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Such good fun and so super cute! I do love an enemies to lovers trope. ❤
2. Best Sequel Of 2019 So Far
Kingsbane by Claire Legrand was my most anticipated sequel for this year and it did not disappoint. I am still reeling from the events of this book. Claire has a talent for lulling you into a false sense of security and then blowing your mind to the point you almost refuse to read more! I was dumbstruck for 20 minutes, I couldn’t believe it. She actually went that far! To be fair to Claire, she gave us all so much warning! 😉
3. Most Anticipated Release Of The Second Half Of 2019
Vow Of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson – sequel to Dance Of Thieves (no idea if there will be more or not) my heart might not be able to take another of these books, though the ending of the Dance Of Thieves had me super happy but then terrified. Within 2 pages. 😮
Soul Of Stars by Ashley Poston – Sci-Fi, Anastasia retelling. Part 2. I need it! I will not ruin this for you, but if you like Sci-Fi and retellings, this is the easiest, funnest read. The Firefly feels are beautiful.
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern – from the author of The Night Circus, one of the most atmospheric books I have ever read, comes a story of one mans journey after reading a childhood story in a mysterious book. I ain’t saying no more, the less we all know the better. It’s going to be AWESOME!
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo – Secret Societies at Yale. Magic. Adult Fantasy. Also the YA snake living it’s best life on the cover 😉
4. Biggest Disappointment Of 2019 So Far
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman felt like I was reading a textbook written by NG. Which would have been great if I was expecting a text book, but I wanted stories, seamlessly flowing into one another, not what I got. I learnt a lot though so it still got 3 stars…
5. Books To Read By The End Of 2019
I have taken on 2 challenges this year, in June I took on the Rainbow Challenge and also my Book Challenge 2019 so the pictured are just a few of what I need to read, let alone I want to! I also wanted to re-read the Harry Potter Series and The Lunar Chronicles, so far I am cheating listening to the audiobooks of Harry Potter and I have only re-read Cinder… so far… wish me luck 😉
6. Favourite New Author
I had to add a special number 6 as V.E. Schwab (AKA Victoria Schwab) has and will continue to blow my mind with her original stories, lovable villains and easy writing style. I love her. Plus her social medias are all hilarious, honest and blunt AF.
As I am super late with this post, free for all tag! If you would also like to procrastinate wonderfully and write instead of read the books you should be reading, you are super welcome to this tag. Full list of questions below. 8) till next time, happy reading 8)
