Hi lovely ones, this year I have decided to do ‘Seasonal’ Reading Wrap Ups, I wanted to theme my reading this year, but after having a mini slump in February, I just had to read what I wanted just so I could read. So, the first 3 months of this year were weird for me, I had a great reading and blogging month in January, then blogged very little in February and fell into a colossal reading slump but then March came and blogs and reading were intermittent but at least happened! (Books not pictured in the reading list are digital copies)
I read quite a lot of graphic novels to help with the slump, also my good friend lent me his Sandman comics, knowing I am the biggest Gaiman fan and I have been really enjoying them.
My “Winter” reading habits below;
Books read: 15
Pre-Orders: 3 Read, 5 Acquired
January Read List
Shadow Of The Fox by Julie Kagawa ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Curse So Dark & Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Netgalley)
The Wicked King by Holly Black ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wolves & Daggers by Melanie Karsak ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Digital)
The Beasts Heart by Leife Shallcross ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Netgalley & Digital)
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Favourite of January: A Curse So Dark & Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer was just awesome! So awesome in fact I wrote a review! I do have a second favourite of January which was Shadow Of The Fox by Julie Kagawa, I just can’t even explain my love for it, Japanese folklore, kitsune, dragon scroll, demon possessed sword and rough housing Ronin, what’s not to love!
February Read List
King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Preludes & Nocturnes (Sandman Series #1) by Neil Gaiman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Bear & The Nightingale by Katherine Arden ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Dolls House (Sandman Series #2) by Neil Gaiman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Vicious by V. E. Schwab ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Favourite of February: King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo obviously and Leigh has always able to wrench me out of a reading slump, however, I am cheating again as Vicious by V. E. Schwab had me hooked and whatever slump had its claws into me will forever be banished by the likes of V & L forever more!
March Read(ing) List
Haphaven by Norm Harper & Louie Joyce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Netgalley & Digital)
Cinder by Marissa Meyer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Re-read)
Blood of A Thousand Stars by Rhoda Belleza ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After The Green Withered by Kristen Ward ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Digital) Review incoming!
Currently reading: I Bring The Fire (Part 1): Wolves by C. Gockel so far ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Favourite of March: Obviously I love Cinder and all the Lunar Chronicles books, however After The Green Withered was really enjoyable. I loved the concept, the character development was lacking a little for me, but that ending was one of the best cliff-hangers I’ve had this year!
I don’t count audiobooks to my actual “read” list as a personal preference, however that doesn’t stop me from listening to them!
(Scribd) Empress Of A Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza Narrator Rebecca Soler ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(Scribd) Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft by Various Authors Narrator Amy McFadden ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(Audible) Dracula by Bram Stoker Narrated with Full Cast incl. Tim Curry & Alan Cummings ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In the Spring, I have plans to listen to Furyborn (in time for Kingsbane) & Northern Lights as a re-read.
Books acquired in Winter
Ok, so I don’t know if I made you lovelies aware, but I have been trying to book ban myself this year and so far… its not been going great! In January I spent my Waterstones gift card(s!) and walked away with 4 books. I also have my pre-orders (PO) which were staying and will not be apart of this book ban. So… lets witness some damage!
Aristotle & Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Ace Of Shades by Amanda Foody
Renegades by Marissa Meyer
Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness
(PO) A Curse So Dark & Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
(PO) The Wicked King by Holly Black
(PO) King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
(PO) The Priory Of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames
The Blue Salt Road by Joanne M. Harris
Prince Of Fools by Mark Lawrence
(PO) Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody & Joanne Rendell
I was also gifted four books (not pictured).
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood
Salem’s Lot by Stephen King
Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig
It could have been a lot worse, I ended up going to Bath & Oxford in March and I am a sucker for a good bookshop. I would recommend Mr B’s Emporium in Bath, over a Waterstones a thousand times over! But Blackwells in Oxford, I found out has 4 floors, is a place I can easily spend 2 hours in and not notice! Hence my ban was broken a few times!
I also received 2 books from the most recent Fairyloot, but as this is March’s box, I didn’t want to spoil it for anyone and have decided to put them into my Spring Wrap Up instead. 🙂
Thank you so much for getting to the end of this blog, I’d love to know what some of your favourite reads of Winter were. Until next time lovelies. Happy Reading 8) !
