Books I’ll (Probably) Never Read

Hi all,

I was not tagged for this, however I did see it on Brittany the Bibliophile and knew it was something I wanted to discuss. The link for the original creator littlespider9 Video.

On to the questions!

Please note: if I mention your favourite book or author or series, please understand these are my opinions and are in no way a judgement towards anyone else’s favourites.

1) A really hyped book you’re not interested in reading?

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I bought the first book on good faith I would read this one day, but I admit I missed the hype and then haven’t heard enough good things to pick it up again. Maybe one day, but for 2019 it’s a no.

2) A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing?

A Series Of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

I bought almost all of these once, but I started reading the first one, and I realised I’m too old to enjoy these. I watched the Netflix series and really enjoyed it, I don’t feel it necessary now to read through them, I know the books are probably better, but I just don’t enjoy these books any more!

3) A classic that you’re just not interested in?

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen I’m not the biggest fan of classics and this one is too big and too overdone in all media’s for me to care for. I won’t write it off entirely because one day I may be a mum or an auntie, with a little nephew or niece that wants me to read this too them, and I will not be saying no.

4) Any genres you never read?

Non-Fiction, but especially autobiographies, I have little to no interest reading about another persons life, I have read and will continue to read self help books however I am not and never will be interested in autobiographies or memoirs. Except, maybe Neil Gaimans’

5) A book on your shelves you’ll probably never actually read?

I un-haul regularly and I admit I use the ‘Marie Kondo’ method of, if it doesn’t spark joy it’s not staying on the shelves. A recent book I un-hauled, because I was never going to read it (and it had survived previous un-hauls) is The Way Of Shadows by Brent Weeks, I loved the idea of this book but after each un-haul the joyful spark dimmed.

Thank you so much for reading another book tag, I love book tags, tag me when you need a willing volunteer. A special mention to Cailin of Whiskers and Ink, who has also completed this tag today! So please go check their post too!

I tag anyone who wishes to play. 😊

Till next time, bookworms, happy reading.

  1. I related heavily to a lot of this post. I think ten years ago my opinions would be different. Some of the writing styles are just too juvenile

    1. So, plewase judge me, but I’m rereading Cinder! (I’m in a wee slump and needed something comfy) and Omy! I fell headfirst back into 2012… and I’m just not mad about it 😉 I think its different for rereads though… what do you think?

      1. I’ve not actually read Cinder so I can’t 😂. Oh absolutely, I’m completely obsessed with the ACOTAR series and I’ll be rereading that for years and years. I’m not even sorry!
